This policy describes exactly what happens to data when you visit jimbamber.co.uk, which is an independent editorial site comparing self-serve advertising networks. It is not an advertising platform, does not sell advertising inventory, and does not operate any of the networks it writes about. The site is operated from the United Kingdom and processes personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, and with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 where it applies to visitors in the European Economic Area. What this site collects
Very little, and nothing that identifies you by name. These pages are static HTML and CSS. There is no user account system, no comment section, no newsletter signup, no contact form and no chat widget. No advertising script runs here, no session-recording tool is installed, and no external fonts are loaded, so no request goes to Google Fonts or any other font host.
One measurement tool is in use: Google Analytics 4, property G-ZQTYS5557N, loaded from googletagmanager.com. It records which pages are opened, how long a visit lasts, which page referred you, approximate location at city level derived from a truncated IP address, and device, browser and screen characteristics. The purpose is narrow: seeing which comparisons and which sections get read, so the next page covers something people actually want.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies on this domain. _ga stores a randomly generated identifier distinguishing one browser from another and expires two years after your last visit. _ga_ZQTYS5557N holds session state for this specific analytics property on the same schedule. Neither contains your name, your email address or anything you have told anyone.
No other cookies are set. There is no advertising cookie, no remarketing pixel, no social embed and no cross-site tracker on these pages. Block or delete both in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on, and the site behaves exactly as before. Nothing here needs analytics to display.
Server logs
The web server delivering these pages keeps standard access logs. Every web server does. Each entry records the requesting IP address, the date and time, the file requested, the HTTP response code, the amount of data transferred, the referring URL where the browser sends one, and the user agent string identifying browser and operating system.
These logs exist for two purposes only: keeping the site available and diagnosing faults, and identifying abusive traffic such as automated scraping or denial-of-service attempts. They are not used to build profiles, are not combined with any other dataset, are not analysed for marketing purposes and are never sold or shared with advertisers. The lawful basis for log processing is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR — operating and securing a website — balanced against your rights by short retention and by doing nothing further with the data.
Analytics cookies sit on a different footing. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations they require consent, and a consent mechanism is being implemented here. Until it is live you can prevent analytics entirely by blocking cookies for this domain or using the opt-out add-on linked above. No analytics data collected on this site is used for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making of any kind.
Outbound links and tracking parameters
Sign-up buttons, including the one in the comparison table on Best Ad Networks, link to AdsCompass and carry UTM parameters in the destination URL. Those parameters state which site and which button the visit came from — for example, whether a click came from the comparison table or from the header. They identify the referring page, not the person clicking. No identifier for you is generated, stored or transmitted by this site.
Once you follow such a link, you are on a third-party platform and its own privacy policy, cookies and tracking apply. That platform may set its own cookies to attribute a subsequent registration. This site receives no personal data back from it: the only information available here is an aggregate count of referred registrations in a partner dashboard, with no individual identities attached.
Other outbound links on this site point to industry bodies and standards documentation — IAB, IAB Tech Lab, the Coalition for Better Ads, the Trustworthy Accountability Group, Google publisher documentation and the FTC. These are ordinary links; the organisations at the other end operate their own sites under their own policies, and following a link exposes your IP address and browser details to them exactly as visiting any website does.
Email correspondence
If you write to any address published on the contact page, the message and your email address are received by a mailbox operated for this site. That content is used solely to answer you and, where a message contains a correction, to update the affected page. Your address is never added to a mailing list, never used for marketing and never passed to any third party.
The lawful basis is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) — responding to correspondence someone chose to initiate. Correspondence is retained while it remains useful for editorial reference, typically no longer than twelve months, and can be deleted sooner on request.
Processors and international transfers
Three processors are involved in running this site. Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC process the analytics data described above. The hosting provider serves the files and keeps the access logs. The email provider carries correspondence sent to the addresses on the contact page. No other company receives data from these pages, and nothing is sold, rented or shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Analytics data reaches Google servers in the United States. Those transfers rely on the EU-US and UK extensions of the Data Privacy Framework, under which Google LLC is certified, backed by standard contractual clauses. Google's handling of the data is governed by its business privacy terms. Event-level retention on the property is set to the shortest period Google offers; after that only aggregated reports remain.
Follow an outbound link and any transfer that results is between you and the destination platform, governed by its arrangements and not by this policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to be told what personal data relating to you is processed, to receive a copy, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, to request restriction of processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
These requests resolve quickly here. The data that exists is a server log entry keyed to an IP address, an analytics record keyed to a cookie identifier, and any email you chose to send. If you want a log entry located and deleted, send the approximate date and time and the IP address in question to [email protected]; without those details the entry cannot be identified. Requests are answered within one month, usually within a few days, and no fee is charged.
Children
This site addresses a professional audience of media buyers and website operators and is not directed at children. No content here is aimed at anyone under 18, and no data is knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has sent personal data through the contact addresses, write in and it will be deleted.
Changes to this policy
If a contact form, embedded media, advertising technology or any other tool that processes personal data is added here, this page is updated before it goes live and the effective date at the top changes. The same applies to the analytics configuration: a different property, a new integration, or any linkage to advertising products would appear here first. Policy changes are not applied retroactively to data already collected under a previous version.
